Little House on the Prairie is a frosty place to be today. Apparently Pa (or perhaps Ma) didn't chop enough wood this summer because this little shanty is downright cold! Oh wait, we don't have a wood burning stove... we have a gas furnace- a newfangled contraption, for those of you who haven't caught up with the industrial revolution. Truth be told, this newfangled contraption isn't working. I woke up to lovely snowflakes falling outside, and temperatures falling inside. We are currently at 55 degrees, or so. Depends on what part of the house you're in, as we only have one space heater. A trusty friend from church is stopping by in a bit to start the repair process. Let's hope we get some heat by this afternoon. Otherwise, we might bring this cozy pot in from the patio and start burning wood. Or if we really lived on the Prairie, "cow chips". Ewww.

or, if you lived in mongolia you'd start trimming the edges of your "hut" with goat chips.
Becca! We only have one little furnace, too!!! It's SO COLD. Now I have no room to talk, being in Oklahoma, but STILL. I am wearing moccasins, long johns, sweat pants and doing the dishes (no dishwasher, either) was downright FRIGID! I feel your pain. But, Erin's right. At least we aren't in Mongolia.
BTW, my sisters and I used to play Little House, too! lol I was Carrie. I love that you're Pa. Is Erin Mr. Edward?!
I had the opposite problem in August when my air conditioning unit burnt out. Summer in Savannah is not when you want to be without AC. I've never heard Ronia whine so much. Luckily we only had to live without for a day. On the bright side it's 70 and sunny out now while it's 12 in Nisswa.
We went through the same thing last year, several times! We were blessed enough to qualify for a program through Minneapolis that offers free installed high efficiency furnaces. We are so thankful and toasty this year. I hope you continue to stay warm this year.
